Public event in Berlin: Media Diversity in Central and Eastern Europe

Media Development Investment Fund is organizing a discussion event on the future of “Media Diversity in Central and Eastern Europe” on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 / 16.00 – 19.00h in Berlin.

MDIF is a non-partisan investor that for 27 years has been investing globally in independent media in countries where access to free and independent news and information is threatened.

Independent, pluralistic media are the foundation of any democracy. They ensure that governments are held accountable, expose corruption and provide a platform for social debate. But in many parts of the world, even in Europe, the media are silenced by governments, oligarchs and other interest groups who want to control the news.

Participants will hear from high-profile media investors and practioners and discuss possible solutions that also focus on the potential of impact investing in the transformation and development of innovative and economically successful media companies in Central and Eastern Europe, with the aim of protecting these companies in the long term against takeover by interest-driven investors

The number of participants for the event is limited. If you wish to participate, please contact Max von Abendroth ([email protected]).
