MDIF selected for ImpactAssets 50 for seventh straight year

Media Development Investment Fund has been selected for the ImpactAssets 50 (IA 50), a free online resource for investors and financial advisors, for the seventh consecutive year. The IA50 2017-18 features fund managers representing private debt and equity investments that deliver social and environmental impact as well as financial returns.

“We are honored to have been included in the IA 50 for seven straight years,” said Harlan Mandel, MDIF’s Chief Executive Officer. “Being listed with 49 other outstanding impact investment funds is crucial in drawing attention to the financial and social impact of investing in independent media in countries where access to free and independent media is under threat.”

The IA 50 is the only free, public, searchable database of outstanding impact investing fund managers. This year’s showcase, which includes funds based in the United States, Africa, Europe and Latin America, highlights the increasingly diverse opportunities for investors to help create social value across the globe, including independent media.

Jed Emerson, ImpactAssets Senior Fellow and IA 50 Review Committee Chair, said:  “Our consistent and objective evaluation of impact fund managers is providing financial advisors and their clients with a starting place to make informed investment decisions.”

ImpactAssets is a nonprofit financial services firm that increases the flow of capital into investments that deliver financial, social, and environmental returns.
