MDIF has invested in Uruguayan newspaper La Diaria to assist with the organization’s plans to further their audio-visual vertical, along with providing guidance with business management.
Established in 2006 with potential readers providing the first set of funds, La Diaria describers itself “as an initiative by citizens who wanted to read a good newspaper and professionals who wanted to do good journalism”. Over the last seventeen years, the organization has built a unique position for itself in the Uruguayan media landscape with 90% of its revenues coming from paying subscribers.
Damián Osta, CEO La Diaria, said, “MDIF’s support has made it possible to fund the diversification of our subscription and membership model, expanding it to audio and video experiences.”
