Dao Nguyen joins MDIF Board of Directors; María Teresa Ronderos steps down

We are pleased to announce that Dao Nguyen, Senior Vice President and Head of Digital Advertising Products at The New York Times, has joined our Board of Directors. With a distinguished career at the intersection of media, technology and product innovation, Dao brings a range of expertise across various leadership roles in media.

Prior to her current role, Dao led BuzzFeed’s product, tech and data teams as their CPTO / Publisher. During her eleven-year stint, she also ran the growth, editorial, video, food, social, branded content, ad product and distribution, and news teams.

Her earlier experience spans roles including CEO of LeMonde.fr in Paris, and other positions at Dow Jones Ventures, Concrete Media, and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). She holds an undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Harvard University.

Dao’s appointment reflects MDIF’s ongoing commitment to supporting independent media through strategic, forward-looking leadership in a digitally-dominated world. Her experience navigating digital transformation in multiple media environments will be invaluable in guiding MDIF’s mission in an evolving information landscape.

As we welcome Dao, we also extend our sincere thanks to María Teresa Ronderos, who has stepped down from the Board. A highly respected award-winning journalist and co-founder of the Latin American Center for Investigative Journalism (CLIP), María Teresa brought valuable insight into MDIF’s work. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and ongoing commitment to independent media.
